About the American Artists Council

The American Artists Council LLC’s mission is to honor extraordinary artistry in the fields of music, dance, and other creative arts. We strive to showcase exceptional talent and achievement from all over the world here in the United States, to foster a community of artists and a platform from which foreign artists of distinction can begin their artists visa journeys.

The American Artists Council offers performance and recording opportunities to artists as well as competitions and awards honoring distinction in artists from all over the world. We also act as agents and a labor union for qualifying artists pursuing an O-1 visa classification and help artists develop the right evidence and itineraries required for O-1 visa applications.

Meet Fraser Calhoun

Founder, American Artists Council

After getting his hard-won O-1 visa (with lots of trial and error, as well as stress and money), Canadian-born jazz saxophonist Fraser Calhoun had a vision for a simpler, clearer path for other professional artists aspiring to pursue their artistry for a living in the United States.

This vision developed into the American Artists Council LLC, which honors exceptional artists and provides performance opportunities, as well as O-1 visa mentorship and sponsorship.

“I have seen too many exceptional artists get turned down for visas,” said Mr. Calhoun, “and many more never even try because the process can feel too complex, too overwhelming. Yes, the process can be challenging, but the O-1 visa is more accessible than many talented artists think.”
Moving to the United States has afforded Mr. Calhoun opportunities to work with jazz greats including Seamus Blake, Mulgrew Miller, and many more. He has made his home in New Jersey with his wife and young daughter.
